Body/Identity Series

During my time as a BFA student, I attempted to re-frame the discussion around bodies and identity. I wanted to unravel my own biases about gender roles and gender identities attached unthinkingly to our bodies.

Using materials like paper, thread, and yarn, I created figures with geometric head shapes and simplified, blurred, or transparent bodies. While still human(oid) and still distinctly individual, these characters retain self-agency and fluidity, and act as a language to describe feelings of queerness.
